OFFICERS

Chandni Kapoor

Project Manager

Chandni Kapoor is a third year undergraduate majoring in Cognitive
Science with a specialization in Neuroscience. Her tasks as the
project manager for our MedICamp 2016 trip are to create and
coordinate with the different groups in the team such as the
fundraising managers and treasurer; to collaborate with the doctors in
India and plan the itinerary of the trip; and to manage traveling and
logistics. To be able to work towards giving free medical services to
those without access to healthcare and to be able to go to India and
see the impact as well as help out is an amazing experience for
Chandni. Chandni looks forward to sharing this journey with the
MedICamp team.

Emily Nguyen

Secretary

My name is Emily Nguyen and I am a second year student majoring in Human Biology and am pursuing a minor in Psychology. I am currently UCSD MedICamp's Secretary for the 2015-2016 school year. My main job is to keep track of internal relations within the organization by taking notes during meetings, making announcements, communicating with other officers and reaching out to general members. I joined MedICamp when it was first created and I was especially interested in the philanthropic philosophy of the group. MedICamp is a student organization that allows pre-med students to come together with a common interest of helping those who are unable to afford healthcare in a foreign country and to learn about global medicine and see how patients are treated in a unique cultural setting. Traveling to India, donating fundraised money to the hospital, and observing medicine being practiced in a foreign country have all inspired me to continue pursuing a career in the medical field.

Erika Robinson

Alumni Advisor

Hello! My name is Erika Robinson. I am a Human Bio major and I am minoring in Global Health. I am Medicamp’s Alumni Adviser. I traveled to India with Medicamp last year so I am here to support officers and members if they have any concerns about the trip.  My experience traveling with Medicamp last year made a large impact on me. There are few opportunities where one can gain such personalized exposure to another country’s health care system as well as their rich culture. Some of my most memorable experiences were shadowing doctors during surgery, taking patient histories in a rural clinic, and visiting cultural sites like the mountainous village of Nainital and the Taj Mahal. I look forward to returning to the welcoming doctors and friends in India and to experience more Medicamp opportunities in the future!

Monisha Vattikuti

My name is Monisha Vattikuti and I am a third year undergraduate student in Marshall college. I am pursuing a Mathematics - Computer Science major and a Business minor. I have been associated with Medicamp since last year and this year, I am Medicamp's Travel Agent. As a Travel Agent, my job is to take care of all the travel arrangements such as hotels and flight tickets. Medicamp gives an opportunity to students interested in healthcare to learn about global medicine and help fundraise to provide free healthcare to underprivileged people in India.

  Maggie Chava

Web Designer  & Media Relations

My name is Maggie Chava and I am a fourth year General Biology major at UC San Diego, with future plans on becoming an obstetrician/gynecologist. I learnt about Medicamp's vision to help underprivileged communties in India access quality healthcare as well as provide our undergraduate students the opportunity to work alongside doctors in India, and joined as a member last year. I will be Medicamp's Web Designer this year 2016-2017 as well as a traveling member. As the web designer, I strive to provide up to date information for our website's visitors and anyone who is interested in learning more about our organization. I look forward to helping Medicamp grow and reach its goals as well as traveling to India with the rest of the members this winter!

Cara Cusi

Treasurer

Hello! My name is Cara Cusi and I am MedICamp’s treasurer and one of the students that will be going to India this December as part of MedICamp’s 2016 Traveling Team. I am a fourth year undergraduate at UCSD and I am majoring in Human Biology. My plan for the future is to become an obstetrician/gynecologist and go on medical missions to serve the underserved. I joined UCSD’s MedICamp last spring because they allow me to stand behind my own values and act on them. Good health should not be a luxury and healthcare should be available to all regardless of their financial situation. So, I am honored to be a part of an organization that will bring free healthcare to the underrepresented and underprivileged people of India. I am excited to be representing UCSD during this trip and for the opportunity to meet people while experiencing a rich culture that will surely help me grow into the kind of doctor I aspire to be.

Rishma Jivan

Fundraising Manager & Intern Coordinator

I am a senior at UCSD majoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, along with a minor in Dance, hoping to pursue a career as a surgeon. I find that MedICamp is a great platform upon which I can cultivate a higher understanding of the medicinal field in terms of its role in a community. Health care is crucial to any socioeconomic sector in the world, and to be able to see its form in a country where the culture and lifestyle is different to that of ours in America, will allow to me to understand health care beyond its commercial and academic image.

  Farrah Wong

Fundraising

Hi! My name is Farrah Wong and I am a second year Human Biology major. I joined Medicamp in the hopes of aiding the underprivileged. I believe that everyone should have the access to healthcare no matter what kind of circumstances one may be in. Being part of this team brings us one step closer to that goal. I am ecstatic to be one of Medicamp's fundraising chairs. Not only would I be helping to fundraise for free surgeries in India but also I will be taking part in Medicamp's traveling team. I am excited to learn about the beautiful culture that I was only able to experience through history textbooks as well as first handedly serve the underrepresented this upcoming December.

Chang Gao

Fundraising

Hi! My name is Chang Gao. I am a sophomore at UCSD majoring Biochemistry&Cell Biology, with a future goal of being a neurologist. I am one of Medicamp’s internal fundraisers and part of the 2016 traveling team. In the beginning I joined Medicamp because of the fascinating medical experience they provide, but when I really get to know this non-profit student organization, I was
touched by the philanthropy spirit. It is not only a great platform for premed student to explore the field of medicine and global health, but also a charitable organization that contribute to the healthcare in underdeveloped area in India and help improve people’s health conditions. It is a great opportunity for us to jump out of the “comfort zone” of America where the healthcare is very sufficient and comprehensive, and face the real medical situation in third world country at a global view. I am very honored to become an internal fundraiser in this incredible group and will bring as much benefits as I can. I really look forward to this trip and can’t wait to broaden my horizons!
